Managing Member and principal-in-charge for all projects, Nic is the engineer-of-record for CSE’s plans and specifications. Cuoco is an expert in every phase of structural design—from permitting to commercial and residential design, to forensics. He specializes in solving complex structural design problems in new or existing construction for homeowners, developers and municipalities, and has more than 25 years of experience as a structural engineer. Nic is an active member of more than a dozen engineering societies and building code committees, and is a past president of the Connecticut Society of Civil Engineers and the Structural Engineers Coalition of Connecticut. He maintains Professional Engineer licenses in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia and Washington, and is a licensed Structural Engineer the State of Illinois. He is also licensed by the state of Connecticut as a construction inspector.

 

A native of Bridgeport, CT, Cuoco graduated from the University of New Haven in 1986 with a B.S. in civil engineering. After more than 15 years as an associate at several prominent Connecticut structural engineering firms, Cuoco started CSE in 2002.

Fairfield Post Office

Principal-in-charge for structural design work for the transformation of the historic central Fairfield (CT) post office into commercial space, including preserving and stabilizing the structure’s original façade so it can be attached to the new structure.

Principal-in-charge for structural design of 15,000 square feet of retail space with a 6,800-square foot drive aisle and parking deck built over a 21,800-square foot below-ground parking garage.

 

1189 Post Road, Fairfield, CT

Principal-in-charge for the structural design of a new 25,000-square foot office/residential/retail building with a 7,000-square foot drive aisle and parking deck built over a 16,000-square foot below-ground parking garage.

 

Porsche of Fairfield (CT)

Principal-in-charge for structural design on the renovation of a 20,000-square foot luxury auto dealership, including new façade and exterior cladding.

 

Notre Dame Academy, Staten Island, NY

Principal-in-charge for the structural design of a new three-story, 17,500-square foot classroom building, which included music facilities, cafeteria, kitchen and a 9,500-square foot heavy timber-framed chapel.

 

St. Luke’s School, New Canaan, CT

Principal-in-charge for the conceptual framing and preliminary design of new a 30,000-square foot, two-story gymnasium. Also prepared construction documents for the conversion of existing 12,000-square foot gymnasium to a performing arts center.

 

ENCON, Stratford, CT

Principal-in-charge for structural design of a new 30,000-square foot fabrication and warehouse facility, including a 20,000-square foot office mezzanine.

 

Covenant Church of Easton (CT)

Principal-in-charge for structural design of a new 10,000-square foot, two-story addition to existing 7,000-sq.ft church. Phase one included church offices, steeple, classrooms, choir room and renovations to existing building. Phase two—to be completed—consists of a 4,000-square foot, two-story suite of classrooms.

 

City of Bridgeport Annex Vaults (CT)

Principal-in-charge for a project to reinforce floor framing in support of a new vault structure. Analyzed existing framing, designed reinforcing and new vault structures, and prepared contract documents.

 

City of Bridgeport Police Training Academy (CT)

Principal-in-charge for the review of fractured roof framing and fractured chimneys following a 2010 tornado. Designed repairs, prepared contracted documents and inspected construction progress on the 10,000-square foot structure.
